Generations of cross Atlantic family exchange culminating in one 90+ year old arriving by himself on the doorstep of his grandson after 40+ years away from Ireland. Arthur (named after his grandfather, from Dublin) was supposed to arrive with his wife, but she got sick, so he went ahead and proved the Picketts are the ultimate road dogs and made the jet journey solo dolo. Once he arrived he was treated to a performance in the backyard by his grandson's silly little band, DUG! The verdict? NOT BAD! This was a little trip I got to make back to Ireland this year to record with DUG, who have been making waves around the globe. Soon they'll be in Australia, and then maybe China? I'm not sure, but there is something primal in the sounds they make that attracts all types, whether they're playing a sold out theater or busking the streets of Dublin.
