Why does Facebook META want to own VR? | Facebook ads Oculus Quest 2 | Metaverse 2022

Facebook has confirmed it will start to put adverts in the Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets. No shocks there. But is there a reason beyond money why they're doing this? They've owned Oculus Quest for years, so why start launch adverts now? I look into Facebook's relationship with surveillance capitalism, free will, their monopoly over what we see and if they should have access to our biometric data.
