Gun Mage is your typical Blue Mage class in past Final Fantasy games, though with a kick to it. Unlike Blue Mages in past games, the Gun Mage is capable of dealing increased damage to specific enemy types with its main command, making it exceptionally useful in specific areas, such as using Mech Destroyer in Bevelle. In addition, it comes with the classic Blue Magic skillset, known as Blue Bullet in this game. Each girl must learn the Blue Bullet separately, so keep this in mind when trying to learn the skills! Some Blue Bullets are very rare and are best gotten with everyone alive (Mortar, Annihilator, and Drill Shot are the three that are permanently missable in a single playthrough file, though can be gotten in New Game+). Blue Bullets can be very powerful weapons, though can also be quite costly in terms of MP where it may be better to switch to another Dressphere and use a less costly method such as regular attacks. Of the Blue Bullets, White Wind, Mighty Guard, Annihilator, Supernova, Heaven's Cataract, and Cry in the Night are all exceptional Blue Bullets, with Stone Breath, Bad Breath, and Absorb are relatively decent. The rest? Well...Seed Cannon just is never useful, and Blaster rarely works. Fire Breath is fine for Fire-elemental damage, while Mortar, Storm Cannon, 1000 Needles, and Drill Shot are all decent offensive options, but are pretty expensive for their costs. I could be wrong, of course! Your mileage may vary, especially with Storm Cannon if its damage formula is the same between the enemy version and Blue Bullet version!
