V: The Original Miniseries - Character Arc: The Story of Robin Maxwell

This video was partly inspired by 1980s science fiction and early MTV music videos, but it was mostly an effort to extract the most interesting character story arc from the series and revisit it's relevance in a modern context. Robin Maxwell is a victim of unfortunate circumstances. She is the subject of a cruel experiment by those who have power over her. Ultimately she faces pressure to do something that she does not want to do by people who do not have her best interest in mind. It was always unfortunate when a woman of any previous decade faced a similar situations to Robin's. But how is that forty years after Robin's very unique case, women today have even less control over their bodies? Ask a conservative friend, "Do you support abortion in cases where the father is a space lizard?" It's likely that most conservatives are huge fans of forced lizard babies, both literal and metaphorical. When circumstances are unfortunate or in any case when a man turns out to be something different than he initially presents himself, a woman should always have a choice whether or not to carry a fetus to term. We can only hope that when the space lizards finally do visit, that this country is no longer run by religious theocrats who so cruelly put women in such terrible positions.
