SMAN460 vacuum leak down test. Just unboxed my new sman460 and was testing out the various parts. First time owning a digital manifold and micron gauge, as well as pumping down with 3/8". I just completed a 2 point sensor comp with some 410a, so I wanted to see how the micron gauge worked out. I still had caps on high and low ports, let the pump run and got to 300micron fairly quickly. Valved off the vac pump and found the microns rising fairly quickly. Only took a few minutes to rise to 750+. Since I have no experience with this sort of thing, is this normal? UPDATED: Turns out yes this is pretty normal. My little plastic caps with a tiny oring are no match for deep vacuums. Any kind of off gas or porousness will show up at these levels, especially with as low of a trapped volume of the fittings and manifold cavity. In practice this absolutely miniscule leakage is not measurable.
