This video is about the Greek Zeibekiko dance, Greek food and Greek culture being enjoyed by multicultural Australian primary school students. In this video we can see how the spirit of the Greek Zeibekiko can be meaningful to kids, even those who are not from Greek decent! Island Hoppers is the Greek dance group at Prospect Primary school that act as a voice of the Greek learning program and attend excursions within their local Greek communities to experience the culture first-hand beyond the school. Over the past few years, our school has teamed up with Meze Mazi, a beautiful authentic Greek restaurant that is local to the school. The restauraunt hosts our students yearly for an authentic Greek dining experience where the dance students are exposed to authentic Greek dishes and authentic interactions in Greek language with the waiting staff. Students also perform a dance each year, and at the end of last year, we filmed our 2023 Island Hoppers students performing the Greek Zeibekiko.
