Northern signal: Four and a half pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights. A Safetran 12x24 inch light. A Safetran gate mechanism. A WCH mechanical bell and RECO LED gate lights. Southern signal: Five pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights. A Safetran gate mechanism. A dead WCH mechanical bell and RECO incandescent gate lights. Crossing ID: 472 192W NS Cleveland District NS 316 (Daily Eastbound Manifest) [Moorman Yard, Bellevue OH - Binghamton NY] NS 4122 (AC44C6M) Amazing crisp P5 NS 4505 (AC44C6M) (Mid DPU) Once I 64K cleared, I stopped home for a bit thinking that would be the end of my night but after getting word that 316 was coming on the district, I decided to go out for it. I decided to come to this crossing as its the busiest and largest crossing on the Cleveland District to get these cantilever signals recorded again. I waited about 20 or so minutes before I heard 316 call the west Lakewood intermediate at Granger Rd. I got set up and about five minutes later, this all autorack 316 comes by with a C6M with a great P5 leading and another C6M as the mid DPU. Since I was last here, there has been one minor change and a few other noticeably new things. The change being the northern signal receiving a whole new gate and gate lights. This is now the only crossing in Lakewood/Cleveland on the Cleveland District to have LED gate lights. Sadly since my last visit, the WCH mechanical bell on the southern signal has died. More than likely, a GS type 3 will take its spot sooner than later. The bell on northern signal does still sound decently healthy but does click a few times so who knows how much time it has left. The bell here also now rings when gates rise which is a feature this crossing didn’t have before. Always like seeing crossings with this feature. September 27, 2025
