In this video, I take you through a live paintless dent repair on a Lexus hood that multiple body shops said had to be replaced. The damage happened when a cyclist accidentally collided with the front of the vehicle, collapsing the rear edge of the hood and leaving deep damage along the edge — one of the hardest areas to repair properly. On top of that, the hood developed an oil can dent that fought the repair the entire way. Instead of replacing the hood, we repaired it live and documented the entire process. In this repair, you’ll see: • Buffing out surface scratches from the impact • Working around a clear bra (PPF) on the front of the hood • Addressing handlebar dents through the film (improved, not perfect — customer was thrilled) • Using Anson PDR edge tool pliers to rebuild a severely collapsed hood edge • Managing and stabilizing an oil can dent during the repair • Accessing the panel through the windshield washer squirter hole • Pulling, stabilizing, and locking the metal back into place • Restoring the hood to a near-perfect result without replacement This is a real-world repair that shows: • Why experience matters • How edge damage can be repaired correctly • What it takes to save panels most shops write off • Why “replace it” isn’t always the right answer The final result wasn’t “body shop perfect” — it was better than expected, and the customer couldn’t see the damage at all. If you’re a technician, this is a full tutorial-style repair. If you’re a vehicle owner, this shows what’s possible with high-level paintless dent repair.
