Le Cachot graced Kennywood with its psychedelic creepiness from 1972 to 1998. Designed by master of the macabre Bill Tracy from Cape May, NJ (replacing his Safari ride which replaced the Zoomerang), your little ride vehicle would bring you face to face which such scenes as a demonic castle guard, a caped prince, a princess in shackles, a guillotine, a buzzard pecking out an eyeball, a grotesque cannibal stirring a cauldron, a Bacchus-type dining at a table with a dog eating his scraps (this I believe was designed by a guy named Polci), a strobe room with geometric patterning (which has been reinstated to an extent inside Noah's Ark), a muraled bat cave, and fishing skeletons. It was wrongly demolished in 1998. Rather than replacing it with Ben Roethlisberger's Nightmare or Garfield's Triple Bypass, it remains a simple lemonade stand. This is the original slideshow uploaded to YouTube circa 2008 (not by me) - featuring rare photos as well as a great audio track (performer unknown). This was recorded off my computer using FlexClip. If I had made this slideshow, the photos would've been in order and I would've credited the song. Kennywood was home to Bill Tracy's Ghost Ship ride - infamous now because of the fire. Fear not, Pittsburghians - Bill Tracy still lives on 2 hours north at the Whacky Shack and Pirate's Cove at Waldameer Park in Erie, PA (albeit with less amazing stunts).
