Sacred Stone / Lingam o The central object of worship is a naturally formed Shiva lingam (a stone), which is said to be self-manifested (swayambhu). o This lingam is about 2.5 feet tall, and its shape is likened to the hood of Sheshnag (the divine serpent). o According to legend, a cow used to pour its milk over this stone every day, which is how it was “discovered.” o The name “Dupcheshwor” may have evolved from “Dudheshwor” (meaning “Lord of Milk”) because of that cow-milk story. saarang.com.np 3.
