[MATCH OF THE DAY #158] 💣 Kintaro Kanemura [C] VS Hayabusa ~WEW World Heavyweight Title~ 💣 [Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling Super Dynamism - 9/5/2001] 💣 one of Hayabusa's last great matches before fate would intervene and introduce Eiji Ezaki to a different path in life. the storylines are bizarre this late in FMW's life but still there would be great matches that occurred throughout 2001. Kanemura defends the WEW World Heavyweight Title (WEW standing for World Entertainment Wrestling, a fictional governing body akin to NJPW's International Wrestling Grand Prix) against Hayabusa who reverted to his masked gimmick after not connecting with fans in the same way as unmasked cocky heel Superstar H. the people wanted the firebird, but it was slowly killing Hayabusa as the high flying repertoire of the talented wrestler created repeated, devastating impact on Ezaki's elbows and forearms. as a result in his final run in 2001 Hayabusa was generally running on a partial gas tank, as injuries and a hectic traveling schedule took their toll on the superstar. in big match situations, however, Ezaki would put his body at risk to transcend the pain he was experiencing and put on a great bout and this is the case here in Sapporo's Green Dome. Kanemura disrupts Hayabusa's opening adulation from the fans and starts the fight right away. Kanemura gets the upper hand by Awesome Bombing Hayabusa off the apron through a table on the outside.
