In 1958, a famous American rhythm-n-blues singer, composer, musician, and producer Prince was born. He is a prize winner of Grammys, Oscars and Golden Globe awards. In 2005, his name was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His father noticed his talent as early as 7 and encouraged him to pursue a career as a musician. After parents divorce, music became his world and that’s where it all started from. Being in the show-business for several decades, Prince became an icon and role-model for millions of people across the globe, inspiring them with songs and talent. At the age of 57, he was found dead in his compound to painkiller overdose. His mother, Mattie tied the knot with a jazz singer, John in 1957 and had been living with him for 8 years. Before she married him, she already had a child and produced two more with John. Prince loved his dad and inherited his talent as a musician and an artist. However, when Mattie remarried and a new man appeared in his life, he wasn’t happy about it and ran away from home. The mother passed away in 2002 at the age of 68. The father, John Nelson was a very creative person who simply couldn’t live a single day without music. He was a participant of a jazz group for which he wrote songs and played the piano. Nonetheless, it never brought enough money and so he had to work as a plastic molder. When Prince became famous, John helped him to co-write songs, for example, Purple Rain. He died in 2001. As Prince’s mother was married twice and father three times, he has 8 siblings. Sharon is a paternal half-sister who is also into the music industry, working as a musician. Lorna was one more paternal half-sister with who Nelson didn’t have good relationship, as she claimed that he had stolen a song from one of her tracks. The court excluded this lawsuit and we don’t know whether they were close again after that. She died in 2006, aged 63. The next paternal half-sister is Norrine. Nothing is known much about her life since she is not a public person. John is a paternal half-brother to Prince who was born in 1948. Duane was a paternal half-brother who worked as a head of security for Prince. Nonetheless, with the time, the tight bond they shared, went sour. He had a wife and two children. He passed away at 52. Alfred is a maternal half-brother, who was so close to the singer that even influenced on his music. Omarr is a maternal half-brother who used to be close to a popular musician performer. Tyka who was delivered in 1960 is the one and only blood sibling. Like her brother, she is also a musician. Nelson helped her to fight a drug addiction, sending her to a rehab. After that she became religious and is now a loving wife and caring mom to 6 kids. The legendary singer was married twice. He first tied the knot with a belly dancer, Mayte Garcia in 1996. They met during one of his concerts in Germany. Even though he was twice her age, they started dating and within four years got married. She got pregnant with a baby-boy who unfortunately died to a rare medical condition just a couple of days after the birth. After that she had a miscarriage and this time it led to a divorce in 1999. She is now a mom to a daughter. The second wife was Manuela Testolini. They had been in a marriage since 2001 and up till 2006. She had been working in his charity foundation and that’s what made them close. During the married life, they didn’t produce children. After the divorce, she married Eric Benet and has two kids with him. Boy Gregory was the only child to an internationally known performer.
