Exploring..... The former Millom Goods Shed / Yard and start of the Millom Ironworks Branch

An unplanned look at the former Millom Goods Yard and Goods Shed in Cumbria. I visited Millom for what was planned as a regular station visit to film a "Half an Hour at...." video. However, the amount of disused relics on show made me decide to film an exploring video as well. From a section of abandoned track, to a long disused set of buffers and the former goods shed now being a Tesco supermarket. Millom station opened in 1850 as Holborn Hill, before the town of Millom even existed. A branch ran through the goods yard from 1866 to a new Ironworks. An influx of new residents saw the founding of the new town of Millom. The Ironworks would shut in 1968, with the goods yard probably around the same time however there are still lots of interesting artefacts left to see.
