The way I see language is, it is more than just words. Sometimes it can start with patterns, sounds, and small details we may notice along the way. In this video, I explore how I think about my mother tongue, reflecting on how meaning can often emerge after observing subtle cues in speech, idioms, and expressions. For those of us with autism, implied meaning and tone can be challenging, and thus may take longer, with clarity arriving only after a moment has passed. I share some examples of how noticing small patterns, connections, and even playful associations can help unpack language in a thoughtful way. This video is part of my "How I Think" series, where I explore thought processes, pattern recognition, and how I try to make sense of the world around me. If you enjoy reflective thinking and subtle insights into language, this episode may resonate with you. 0:00 Intro 1:04 Where Meaning Lives 1:49 Metaphors & Pattern Finding 4:06 Tone of Voice 5:21 Response Times and Clarity 6:54 Idioms After the Moment 8:02 Question For You Other videos in this series How I think about Science - • Walking Around An Idea: How I Explore Scie...
