It's the wild wild west in the Trinity League with the top teams taking turns beating each other. Just 4 days prior to Friday night, Santa Margarita found a way to win at the buzzer against St. John Bosco. JSerra was coming off their most recent win over Mater Dei, their 4th straight against the Monarchs. This was more than just another league game for these two schools. Whoever came out on top of this game would control their own destiny in the quest for a league championship. JSerra had the same recipe to start the game as they did a couple days ago against Mater Dei. That was to get out quick to an early lead. The Lions defense led to buckets on the other end and a 10-0 lead to start the game. Santa Margarita got back in the game and only trailed by 3 points after Brayden Kyman's corner three made it 15-12 JSerra. With JSerra leading 25-21, Grayson Sinek would spark the Lions with 2 steals that ended up with points going on an 8-0 run and take a 9 point lead into halftime. JSerra would extend the lead to 14 points 40-26 in the 3rd quarter and that's where the Eagles would flip the script. Santa Margarita would turn on the defensive pressure and took advantage of converting turnovers into points. The Eagles went on a 14-3 run to close out the quarter cutting the deficit to 43-40. the 4th quarter belonged to Kaiden Bailey who scored 15 of his game high 24 points. Bailey orchestrated the comeback taking the first lead of the game after a sidestep three with the and-1 to go up 46-45. Brannon Martinsen would briefly grab the lead back for JSerra after a steal and slam 54-52. Bailey would answer back with a baseline spin move that he gracefully scored off the glass. Grayson Sinek would get called for a technical foul and Bailey would sink both free throws to grab the lead for good. Drew Anderson and Rodney Westmoreland would cash in on two corner threes to give Santa Margarita their 2nd come-from-behind victory this week. More importantly for the Eagles, their record improves to 7-2 with 2 games remaining including a rematch with Mater Dei at home Monday night.
