"Procto" means rectum. So "proctocolectomy" is removal of the entire large intestine and the rectum and either you connect the small intestine directly to the anal canal through making some pouches and all or you do what is called iast we make a hole in the abdomen from where the intestinal contents after digestion they'll be coming out using a bag it will be picked up that's called ileostomy that's called permanent ileostomy.
