Computing, Digital, Tech, IT, Computer Science – whatever you like to call it, it’s everywhere, and there are fantastic career prospects for those who take up computer science…but what are they? To help you find out more about choices for the future we have arranged some careers inspiration micro-webinars aimed at ages 11-16. During these sessions we chat with people who have chosen a career in IT, to find out about what they do and their experiences. We’re speaking to people who have taken all different paths such as degrees, apprenticeships and internships so you can find out about different options for education and training as well. In this session we speak with Dr Jess Enright, a computing lecturer who is also researching the spread of infectious diseases. Jess has shared some useful links with further information on epidemic modelling: Some pre-COVID-19 resources on epidemic modelling: https://motivate.maths.org/content/Ma... Pre-COVID-19 project with the BBC involving Hannah Fry and Julia Gog (an amazing modeller who has been taking a leading role in modelling the pandemic in the UK): https://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/c... Jess has also recommended these sites for anyone interested in finding out more about PhD study, especially for those who don’t have family members with a background in academia: https://first-gen-guide.com/resources/ https://www.insidehighered.com/advice...
