These are three structure fires that happened in Wheeling, WV, USA in 2020 or 2021. I may have mixed up the dates, but the titles say 2020. It was that era when L-1 was a Sutphen, L-6 was the ALF, and Rescue 1 was the Spartan/Hackney. Many of the WFD Chiefs photographed are now Retired and on other Emergency Service related career paths. A few of the trucks have been re-lettered for 2026, L-1 is now L-6, L-6 is now L-13 (for parades/ceremonies) and Rescue 1 is now Rescue 2, spare R-1 for the City. Squad 4 photographed may still be in use, but that EMS ambulance would be spare/reserve. The three incidents (in order of appearance): 2nd Alarm - Two houses fully involved in Warwood on Warwood Avenue. I included the PIO footage the first scene. It shows the fire present on arrival. I arrived about 30 min - 45 into the incident. Heavy Smoke showing and fire in the rear. C3 A. Campbell C1 Helms (main chiefs) 10-96 - Avenue Eats restaurant (original location) & Apartment Units on Washington Ave. This may have been upgraded to a 2nd Alarm also. I arrived after E-4. C4 Harto C1 Helms (main chiefs) 10-96 - Semi-Attached Garage Fire (heavy fire on arrival) - 6th/7th St Area between Market and Main Sts. The address might have been 700 Market Blk. C3 A. Campbell C1 Helms (main chiefs) A 10-96 for the Wheeling FD is 3 Engines 1 Truck 1 Rescue, 1 Squad (Ambulance ALS), 1 Duty Chief 1 Fire Chief, Investigations Chief or Captain, (sometimes a safety chief although I think C1 is safety chief), EMS1, PIO. A 2nd Alarm adds 1-2 Engines 1-2 Trucks (L-6 and Mutual Aid), Rescue 2, additional EMS as needed, additional chiefs and support units, EMA-1 or EMA-2 (Ohio County FD Battalion Chief equivalents) . Wheeling also has a 3rd Alarm status. This is at least 3-4 Trucks, all 8 engines, 2 rescues, EMS as needed, Mutual aid with Ohio County/Marshall County, WV and Belmont County, Ohio. In the 2000s was the last time I saw a 3rd Alarm. I think Zigenfelders in 2017 might have been a 3-Alarmer. The 1970s-2000s were rife with 2nd and 3rd alarm structure fires in the Friendly City.
