In this video I demonstrate two important exercises that help drummers develop control, consistency, and proper stick technique: Wrist Strokes and Pick-Up Strokes. These are great warm-ups for beginners and advanced drummers alike. Wrist Strokes Start in poise position: wrists at a 90° angle to the forearms, sticks pointing upward, elbows relaxed close to the body. Check your grip and apply a light squeeze at the fulcrum (where the stick rests between thumb and finger). Strike the drum or practice pad and stop the stick about 1 inch above the surface. Hold this position for 10 seconds to develop control. Return to poise position and relax the forearms. Pick-Up Strokes Start again in poise position. Strike the pad and immediately return to poise position. Focus on maintaining good grip and relaxed wrists. Practice: Repeat each exercise 3 times with each hand. These exercises are excellent for improving stick control, grip awareness, wrist strength, and overall drumming technique. www.trevorsalloum.com #drummers #drumpractice #stickcontrol #drummers#drumlesson #drumlessonsforbeginners #drumpatterns
