In this week's video, we are in Tblisi, Georgia for the first time. We eat our way through the city to discover: Georgian food is amazing! We start our day at a local bakery to try some fresh Georgian bread, called tonis puri. From here, we make the short walk over to the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world! We then make our way to the Meidan Bazar to browse some local souvenirs, wine, and art. It's now time to grab ourselves a quick snack. We decide to visit Luca Polare, a local ice cream chain, to grab ourselves some Georgian wine ice cream. After our sweet treat, we take a walk along the Bridge of Peace before heading to The Clock Tower and Gabriadze Theater. For lunch, we head to Cafe Daphna. Here we try some local beer and chacha (a Georgian liquor). To eat, we try a variety of pickled vegetables and a variety of traditional Georgian dumplings called khinkali. To finish up our first day, we swing by a restaurant called Zodiaqo to try fried khinkali. We start our second day by trying two beloved Georgian snacks, Churchkhela & tkalpi. After a quick sampling, we head to Mapshalia for our first real meal of the day. We order more local beer and chacha to start. We then order nigvziani badrijani (Georgian eggplant rolls), elarji (cornmeal with cheese), chicken kharcho (a chicken/walnut stew), and Adjaruli khachapuri (cheesy egg bread).
