How do you identify an unknown, radioactive element using affordable tools? I am faced with this challenge from an unlabeled radioactive source. It is radioactive, but what makes it radioactive? In this video, I use a range of tests in an attempt to identify the radioisotope. Including paper, magnets and a gamma spectrometer. Will I figure it out or will the source remain a mystery?
