Last week MTFJ and the Hokitika Museum sponsored a Stencil Street Art workshop, which was run by Regan Tamanui, kiwi-born, and an internationally recognised street artist. Regan is currently based Perth and produces his street art under the pseudonym ‘HA-HA’. While he works in different mediums, he is best known for his stencil work, is considered to be one of the founders of the stencil art movement internationally. He is also well known for his workshops, which he has run in a number of locations in the Asian-Pacific region. As an artist he has exhibited his work internationally in locations including; Brazil, USA, Singapore, Indonesia, Denmark, Vietnam, the UK, Turkey, and widely throughout Australia and New Zealand. We were very lucky to have Regan visit Hokitika as part of the MTFJ Inspire to Aspire Expo and he ran an evening workshop on the 16th February for a group of local Hokitika and Greymouth artists in stencil making. The product of their work can be seen sprayed onto the side of Drummond Hall in Camp Street. #ReganTamanui #StencilArt #HokitikaMuseum #MTFJwestland, #MTFJ, #WestlandNZ, #WestCoastnz #CreativeCommunities
