On this action packed episode we discuss several electrical issues but focus on repairing/rebuilding our windshield wiper switch. Come along baby birds, as we spoon feed the step by step details. Having just returned home from the grueling northeast Iowa car show circuit, (Nacho accidentally placed second at one event) Blake and Jaybo turn their attention toward a few minor electrical issues. The starter trigger wire was shorted to 12 volts, engaging the starter with the key in the off position. The windshield wipers were not engaging with the switch. Get yourself a factory service manual it should be specific to your year, it'll will show you a troubleshooting guide for your wiper system. Step one is check for binding linkage but we actually put a power probe to this thing like five months ago and the wipers came on. Next item to check is the instrument panel switch, the FSM will show continuity checks, pretty easy. Ours is a two speed switch so it just has off low and fast, some switches, maybe all, incorporate a push button to engage your electric pump, your switch needs to correspond with your motor, if you've got a two-speed switch you gotta have a two-speed motor and so on. You can't buy this on rockauto so you're you're stuck with rebuilding your own or pick one up on ebay, they can be expensive, we're gonna fix this for free. *************************Do a guy a favor and hit the like button.**************************** THE BACK STORY. We picked up an ugly 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Notchback, roller, for around $2800.00, nobody wanted this car, it sat on the side of a road for years with a for sale sign in the windshield. We'd occasionally see it pop up on Craigslist or Marketplace and talk about it or day dream about it but nothing serious. One day we stopped and took a look at it and the "Nacho" was born. The idea was to take it from a roller to a running and driving car that would run a 12 second quarter mile et, maybe better. What about paint and body? We've had project cars in the past that needed paint and body work and they just never got off the ground, the fact that we don't have a proper garage makes the whole situation twice as hard. So, it was decided to focus on making it mechanically sound, that's the kind of stuff we like to do. Maybe sometime in the future we'll have a go at making it pretty but for now it's kind of grown on us and people seem to have acquired a taste for it, or not. For now, we're having fun with it and it's been just that. Don't Miss Out on a single episode, Consider Subscribing, we have more planned for this and others in our fleet of project cars and trucks.
