Day 5 of our journey north aboard our classic wooden Grand Banks 36 brought us somewhere we never expected — Minstrel Island, British Columbia. After leaving the rough waters of Johnstone Strait, we entered Havannah Channel, where something magical happened: the clouds lifted, the water calmed, and the true beauty of this coast revealed itself. It’s moments like these that remind you — the real value of money is in experiences like this. By afternoon, we tied up at Minstrel Island — a place that feels frozen in time. Once a bustling hub for steamships, fishermen, and travelers, today it’s quiet, holding on to echoes of the past. We spent the day exploring the old town, setting a crab trap, meeting Kelly at Lagoon Cove, and laughing when Dan greeted us at the government dock with two live crabs in hand. From breathtaking scenery to the kindness of strangers, this stop quickly became one of our favorites of the entire trip. 👉 Subscribe and join us as we continue our adventure north, one stop at a time: Alaska is getting closer every day.
