Episode 5 of the Southwestern U.S. Road Trip 2024\ --------------------- **DISCLAIMER ** I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, TO ENTER AN ABANDONED MINE OR CAVE OF ANY SORT ** DO NOT ENTER THESE ** I came across a place I found on Google Maps that was home to an awesome looking slot canyon. Upon further inspection I was able to find evidence of old mine from back in they day so it further peaked my interest. Fast forward 4 weeks to now, when I'm on the road and traveling through the area, and I was finally able to get into the wash and explore it for myself. This must have been a very large operation due to the evidence of A LOT of left over mining road, tires, and foundations. I believe this was a Borax ore mine but I was unable to find much information about the area and specifically the mines. I saw an old sign while hiking around that mentioned Borax ore..... I felt safe entering these mines due to the high foot traffic that was clearly available for me to see as well as the mine being open without any blockage or signs keeping the public from entering.
