In this video, I compare one of the most popular produce subscription services, Farm Fresh to You, with our own local CSA box at Cardiff Tiny Farm. I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the produce in the Farm Fresh to You box — everything was certified organic, fresh, and thoughtfully packed. The convenience was also notable: I placed my order just two days before it arrived at my door. That convenience, however, raised questions for me about scale and sourcing. When I looked more closely at where each item came from, I realized that while the food was organic, very little of it could be considered truly local to my region. Importantly, I don’t see Farm Fresh to You as something small farms should compete against or criticize. In many ways, companies like this have helped make the idea of a weekly produce subscription mainstream — paving the way for local CSA programs to exist at all. If you don’t live near local organic farms offering CSA boxes, Farm Fresh to You can be a great option. If you do, I’d encourage you to try a local CSA and make the comparison for yourself. I also wrote a longer breakdown of this comparison on the farm blog here: https://www.cardifftinyfarm.com/blog/...
