A mum & daughter birthday trip to Manchester

To celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday, we enjoyed a cosy mum–daughter trip filled with great food, cocktails, and some lovely city moments across Liverpool and Manchester. On her actual birthday, I surprised her with dinner at the newly opened Ivy Asia in Liverpool, located above The Ivy in the beautiful former Bank of England building on Castle Street. After dinner, we headed for after-dinner cocktails at Hummingbird, a small art-deco inspired bar tucked away on North John Street. Later in the week, we took a little overnight trip to Manchester and stayed at the Marriott Piccadilly, right next to the station. Our first stop was Waku Waku, the UK’s first and only 2D restaurant, where we enjoyed Japanese food and aesthetic coffees in its black-and-white comic-style setting. After some shopping, we finished the evening with birthday cocktails at The Cut & Craft, a stunning old bank with palazzo-style architecture (and a viral ladies’ room!). The next day, we started with an amazing Canadian-style breakfast at Moose Coffee, did a bit more shopping, and ended the trip with drinks at The Old Wellington — one of the oldest buildings in Manchester, dating back to 1552. It was the perfect little birthday getaway. 💕 The cost for a one night stay in the Marriott Manchester Piccadilly was £49.
