1920s Fairbanks Morse Cordwood Saw Back In Business

After more than 25 years of ownership of this 1920s Fairbanks Morse cordwood saw rig, it was time to get serious about fixing the ineffective blade. The blade felt sharp at least on the points of the teeth. Unfortunately the blade would barely cut. The last run attempt was in the fall of 2024. It revealed the teeth needed serious attention. Years of hand filling reduced the saw blade to little more than a metal disk with slots. Now, in the spring of 2025, the fix was to greatly increase the clearance on the heels of the teeth. Success followed the rework by cutting through a 5" diameter log in barely 2 seconds. Machinery like this can be dangerous.
