In this video I restored an old grater made in 1929 by 'Alexanderwerk' which I bought last year on a flea market. The guy who sold it to me said that he found it a couple of years ago in a house clearance and used it for decoration purposes since then. When he found it it didn't have the wooden parts that I had to remake. Those parts always seem to miss, but I am very happy with the result of the ones I made. The work on the project took about 30 hours (inclusive filming) plus about 15 hours of editing. That was the 'small' patent in Germany from 1891 till 1945. The grater was in a quite good condition considering its age. The plating on the inner part was in a good condition and didn't have much damage, so after a lot of thinking I decided to leave it on and add a new layer of plating on the original layer. Even though that is untypical you can do that, if the original plating is in a good enough condition, meaning that there are no major damages and the plating is not corroded much or is peeling off.
