sql server 2005 management studio installation step by step: In this video along with sql server management studio installation I will explain how to install following soft wares as well: windows installer microsoft .net framework 2.0 msxml 6.0 In this video i am gonna show you how to install sql server 2005 in your local machine. In my home i have a very old computer and it doesn't support latest versions of sql server like sql server 2008 and latest versions. Even if the system configuration supports i dont want to install latest version bcoz it consumes disk space and while using sql server it will be very slow. So, I am planning to install sql server 2005 in my home computer. I am gonna show u how I installed sql server 2005 . 1st go to google.Then type sql server managament studio 2005 download. and from the google serach results select the microsoft site . bcoz its genuine and its virus free. And download the exe file from here. After download is completed dowble click on the exe file and clck on run. It throwed an error saying MSXML6 is prerequisite for this installation. If your system already have MSXML6 installed then np. Else install this software aswell. Here I am downloading MSXML6 and installing in my machine now. As u can see here i download all softwares from microsfot site only. Now, I am installting MSXML6 After installations is done, again i am trying to install sql server management studio 2005. Now, I got an error saying Microsoft .net framework 2.0 is prerequisite. SO, I have to install this software as well. I will download Microsoft .net framework 2.0 now When I try to install to install it will throw an error saying windows installer is needed to install Microsoft .net framework 2.0 So, I will down load and install windows installer in my machine. after u install windows installer , u need to restart ur computer. Then install Microsoft .net framework 2.. after Microsoft .net framework installation, install sql server management studio 2005. now, it have all required softwares so it will not thorugh any errors, clk on sql server management studio 2005. exe file and follow the steps that i am showing here. In the features selection - select " This feature and all sub features option" and proceed further,. after management studio is installed in ur machine, go to start MS sql server 2005 sql server management studio. sql server management studio will open, when u clck on server name and browse, in local servers tab u dont find any server. So, using sql server management studio, u can just connect to any remote server with valid credentials . but, it will not create a local server in ur machine. So, if u r connecting to any remote sql server u can just install sql server management studio by following the steps that I have shown u in this video. But, if u want a local server, u need to install sql server 2005 express edition. In my next video i will show u how to install sql server 2005 express edition and create local server.
