Purchase Track (Mp3): http://www.mossmusic.com.au/product/s... Website: http://www.mossmusic.com.au Dust and Dreams Warraitya tangkuinyanthiis a song written and produced by Adelaide band MOSS, in collaboration with Mr. Jack Buckskin, a linguist and teacher of Kaurna language at the Tauondi Aboriginal College. The motivation to write Dust and Dreams came after Susan and Mark spent a month in the Australian outback last year, where they saw the devastation of many Aboriginal communities who were struggling to survive and felt compelled to become involved and help. Dust and Dreams is a song that mixes hard social comment with hope. Symbolic, yet practical and real, fostering a sense of unity between Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Australians. From the outset the song had to include and make visible Aboriginal culture, speak about truth and fuse ancestral sounds with contemporary rock. DUST AND DREAMS (LYRICS) INTRODUCTION (Kaurna) “This is the language of the Adelaide Plains, now you will learn some” VERSE 1 I know you never had the chance, to ignite the light you have inside you, See you shining; you only had dust and dreams. Stopped the passage of your song lines, Now no direction, empty horizons and collisions, You only had dust and dreams. CHORUS Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I felt the thud of your feet on the dust Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I’m in a trance I’m willing to trust, Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, Can I dance with you and share your dreams. VERSE 2 We said we knew what was best for you, We took your freedom, gave you prisons, bad decisions, You only had dust and dreams. Now Sanding in a no-man’s land, Between the dreaming and the bleeding, still believing, In your dust and dreams. CHORUS Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I felt the thud of your feet on the dust Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I’m in a trance I’m willing to trust, Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, Can I dance with you and share your dreams. BRIDGE I saw you dance and you took my breath away, You are the dust and I saw you drift away, Felt the rush when I heard your desert sound, Felt the hush from the sky right to the ground. I saw you dance and you took my breath away, You are the dust and I saw you drift away, drift away into your dreams. INTERLUDE: “This is the language of the Adelaide Plains, now you will learn some” (Kaurna) VERSE 3 (REPEAT VERSE 1) I know you never had the chance, to ignite the light you have inside you, See you shining; you only had dust and dreams. Stopped the passage of your song lines, Now no direction, empty horizons and collisions, You only had dust and dreams. CHORUS Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I felt the thud of your feet on the dust Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, I’m in a trance and willing to trust, Warraitya Tangkuinyanthi, Can I dance with you and share your dreams.
