Using the back of my house as an example we will go through all the stuff that segments can do with your lights. Segments are easier when you know the numerical order of your lights. Knowing where your first LED is and the path they follow to the last LED will help when setting up segments. It's easy if you are only using one controller output, but if using more than one it can get a little confusing. I usually use an effect like candy cane to see what direction my lights are flowing then make adjustments in the LED Preferences section to get them all moving in one direction, which usually consists of reverse rotating(180deg) on one output until they flow in one direction.
