It is a very common orchid found in the tropical areas. #exoticorchid #plants #gardening #orchidcare #orchid #dendrobium In North East India, dendrobium aphyllum can be easily spotted on tall trees hanging from the branches. During summer they grow leaves and canes. As winter approaches the leaves shed leaving bare canes. During this time the orchid takes rest and hence watering should be minimised. As winter ends, buds start appearing on the nodes of the canes. The buds take about one and half month to fully mature. The blooms have light mauve petals and a very pale yellow lip. They last about 2 weeks. As the blooms fade, basal keikis start growing. These keikis again start growing in the summer and the cycle is repeated.
