Welcome back to the channel. Today will be just a brief piggyback video off a topic that Divergent channel has been discussing a lot lately: The Mythical Mount Meru. Today we are going to look at what the current narrative has to say, introduce you to “pyatthats” which I’ve seen on countless old world and ancient buildings (but never fully knew what they represented), and show you some great examples of these structures throughout the world. We will also talk about buildings which represent enlightenment. Mostly just photographs of amazing old world buildings with pyatthats. Essentially (as the narrative goes); Mount Meru was the center of the universe for the ancient Jain, Buddhist, and Hindu religions; it seemed to shape much of their culture and mythos, and was credited as having some pretty fascinating attributes. On the peak (apex) of Mount Meru was said to be Trayastrimsa (Heaven: literal translation; 33). We will take a look at old world buildings and artwork which depicts these ideas more thoroughly.
