In this video Chris compares two high-end, but very different, Shu Puer teas. First is the Zijuan Gongting (Purple Leaf Palace Puer), with it’s rare purple leaf cultivar and delicate young bud and leaf material, it produces a tea that has a rich and lingering finish, with little to no woody or earthy taste. And almost on the opposite spectrum is the Zao Xiang Fangzhuan (Jujube) brick that was made with large leaves and carefully aged for now 21 years. This tea is lighter in feel, reminiscent of rain on stone, and has the characteristic sweet Jujube flavor that only comes from properly aging Shu Puer. It really demonstrates the wide variety that high quality Puer presents itself in, and how valuable tea master Ran Yijun is in sourcing these teas for us.
