Just when you think The Beloved may get swept in a doubleheader against the Pirates up to the plate steps the greatest slugger in Cubs history - Sammy Peralta Sosa - and Slammin' Sammy delivers with a moonshot for the ages to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. Sammy's bomb to center field was such a shock (the Cubs had scored one run in the prior 15 innings) that it no doubt caused a few fans (even some 29 year olds) to bleep their pants with excitement! With the Cubs now up a run, the not-yet-fired Don Baylor (RIP) turns the ball over to our hero Joe Borowski and this is 2002 so you know Joe Bor is gonna get the job down. Joe pitches a scoreless 1 1/3 and future Diamondbacks great Jeff Fassero and Six-Toed Tony do the rest do seal the comeback win. Bobby "The Answer" Hill notches a RBI in this one and our guy Augie "Doggie" Ojeda makes four assists at shortstop. "Wafer Thin" Juan Cruz goes six innings to get the first win of his 2002 campaign.
