In the Netflix documentary "Inventing David Geffen," he touches on the mental illness his mother struggled with and a burning desire not to be "ordinary," as he put it. David Geffen is ANYTHING but ordinary, especially to a music fan like The Radioactive Patient. Initially, he was an artist's manager and was one of the first to make sure artists were compensated for their songwriting by forming publishing companies. Geffen's A&R team also revived Aerosmith's career in the Geffen label. Elton John, Bob Dylan and John Lennon also released albums on Geffen Records. For a long time, no one's known who Carly Simon's hit single, "You're so Vain," off the "No Secrets" album, was actually about.
