Insects increase crop yields, support food production, and are essential for a functioning ecosystem. Yet only 1% of insects have had their conservation status assessed by the IUCN, compared with 72% of vertebrates, and we know very little about the nature and scale of changes to insect populations in the tropics. In this video, Filipe França, a lecturer at the @UniversityOfBristol , talks about his #FutureLeadersFellowship investigating the current state of tropical insect biodiversity, how at risk they are from climate change, and study how changes to their population will impact their ecosystems.
