2.5 Months After Makoplasty Robotic Assisted Partial Knee Replacement: Hello and thank you for viewing this video. I perform the Makoplasty robotic assisted partial knee replacement for patients who have arthritis of the knee. Patients with knee arthritis often ask me if the Makoplasty robotic assisted partial knee replacement is right for them instead of a total knee replacement. I tell them it depends on a numerous factors. Please keep in mind that determining if you are a candidate depends more than just these factor. I think this is a good start however. 1) Is the majority of the pain within one area of the knee? Example mostly inner side or outer side. Pain all over the knee or posterior would indicated that the knee has arthritis in all 3 compartments. 2) Do the weight bearing xrays show joint narrowing mostly in one side? 3) Is the pain really caused by arthritis or is there something else going on? 4) Rheumatoid arthritis patients are usually not good candidates because of the generalized inflammation. 5) Is the knee stable and in general good alignment? I can usually make a decision with an exam and plain xrays. I hope you found this information helpful. I also post information on my facebook.com/myorthodoc page.
