devastating garden 2025 update / I've been grieving & embarrassed

#cityfolkhomestead #garden #grief #fail Hi friends. This is an embarrassing update to post as it is our BIGGEST, most expensive homesteading fail to date. My thoughts may be a little scattered in this video as I am still trying to process and find a way forward. Please do your research on whatever compost/dirt/amendments you bring onto your property! I am so thankful to our friends who have helped us remediate this issue but we still have a long way to go to recover and, sadly, that means our entire 2025 gardening season is a total loss. While some gardeners have great results with biosolids/sludge and we were able to control the pot worm infestation with beneficial nematodes, we still don't know how much toxins, heavy metals, or pharmaceuticals will be absorbed by the plants we would grow in the soil. Therefore, we will be adding landscape fabric, 2-3 inches of pea gravel, and raised beds to this garden area. It will take us years to build it back up and fill the space. I am sharing this devastating garden tour and update to be true to my desire to be honest and REAL about what it means to be a first-generation homesteader! Please be kind! -Paige
