Design Director William Mitchell tells us a little bit about the influences that have gone into designing the baton, such as Glasgow's ship-building heritage and the architectural legacy of Alexander "Greek" Thomson and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The baton will visit each of the Commonwealth's 71 nations and territories before returning to Scotland where it will be cheered through towns and cities for 40 days before concluding its journey at the Glasgow 2014 Opening Ceremony.
