A home birth is such a beautiful gift... not only will you feel incredibly empowered by birthing naturally, but you are also in the comfort of your own home which can put you more at ease as you're in labor and recovery. With my first child, I had a vaginal birth at a hospital where I was induced by my midwife. With the second child, I realized that being induced sucked and made my labor waaaaay harder, so I opted for a Birthing Center (standalone building with midwives). It was a dream! I was the only one there birthing that evening with just my husband, my midwife and a nurse. And about an hour after the baby was born, they let me go recover at home. Wow, what a difference that was of not being woken up every half hour or so on the Recovery Floor of the hospital with little check-ups. When it came time for our numero tres to be born, we really wanted a home birth. We're fortunate to live next door to my in-laws, so when I burned the pot of lentils for dinner and the contractions were getting too intense, I just sent the two older kids over to their grandparents. I labored all night and just before the sun rose, our little guy was born. Our two older girls got to come over and meet him right away. A home birth really is a beautiful experience.
