Hey Guys welcome back to The Human Condition!! In this video we talk about one of Machiavellis most famous quotes “Is It better to be feared or loved”!! In this one we give 3 examples on why it’s better to be feared and why it’s better to be loved!! Machiavelli if I’m not mistaken viewed the ideal was to be feared and loved but if you had to choose go with fear!! Three reasons fear can be beneficial is Reliability, Control, and Human Nature!! Whereas Love prompts Loyalty, Genuineness, and Lasting Success!! Fear is reliable because it’s one of the key motivates for people’s personal decisions and desires!! Fear can sometimes lead to greater control in the short term but can build resentment from people if used as a tool of leadership!! With Human Nature people are naturally fearful so using fear works but is harsh and never lasts!! Love prompts warmth and a desire to connect if used in leadership!! People feel free to be themselves, work harder, and even if you lose control as the leader your efforts promote lasting success for others!! Leading with fear helps self preservation in life however love creates better success for everyone!! In conclusion leading through both is the best option imo but leaning towards more of love than fear which differs from Machiavellis view!! I hope you guys enjoy this video!!
