Abstract: The goal of this talk is to provide a general framework for giving good math talks. This includes how to tell a story, how to simplify definitions to be more readable, how to talk about a theorem and its proof without being too technical, and more. There will be explicit examples of these concepts demonstrated by Terence Tao, Renzo Cavalieri, Peter May, and others. 00:00 Intro 01:49 Telling a story 11:35 Simplifying definitions 17:59 Theorems and proofs 21:50 Grab bag of tips 28:54 Tips from the audience 32:55 Taking steps to improve 37:08 Audience questions/remarks References: [1] Encyclopedia of Mathematics, Chow ring, http://encyclopediaofmath.org/index.php?ti..., April 2012, Accessed: 2023-01-19.
