Thyroid Ultrasound Results - I'm Shocked & Angry! From Jenna: "I received my thyroid ultrasound results and wanted to discuss them. First, my regular doctor would never have ordered this test. Through the Transform program, I learned that I had hypothyroidism with low production of total T4. Although I didn't think it was a big deal, I realized that I needed to be proactive and preventative by having a thyroid ultrasound. I had to self-advocate with my general practitioner to get the test ordered, as she didn't think it was necessary either. The results showed a highly suspicious, solid, irregular thyroid nodule, and it's recommended that I have a biopsy. I was shocked and upset that the medical system would never have discovered this. They only test TSH, which doesn't provide enough information. This could have been overlooked until my symptoms worsened, and it could have turned into cancer. I'm grateful for the knowledge I've gained in the program, which has taught me how to be proactive and preventative, and how to advocate for myself with my practitioners to get the tests I need. The next step is my biopsy, and I'll keep you posted. Thank you."
