After 8 years of being out of service for a federally mandated 1472 day inspection, New York, Susquehanna & Western 142 is back in action. The 142, an SY Class 2-8-2 “Mikado” built by the Tangshan Locomotive Works in 1989, entered back into service on October 4th for Delaware River Railroad Excursions’ “Great Pumpkin Train” excursions. In addition to its long awaited return, the locomotive traveled as far south as the newly constructed station in Riegelsville for the first time in its career on the Bel-Del line, a milestone in and of itself.
