Six months, one night rating, two air eurotrips, one G1000 endorsement training, and around 80h of flying later, I came to this point; to this flight. This is one of my final flights before going to Kalmar Sweden, to start my commercial training with Diamond Flight Academy Scandanavia, to become a professional pilot. Watch this video to see two of my biggest mistakes in the flight, and to watch some pretty cool flying footage. One of my mistakes in that flight was to forget to turn the carb heat off during the touch and go. I noticed something was wrong because of the unusual lack of climbing performance. I caught on once at a safe altitude. I maintained a safe airspeed and ensured that I still had a rate of climb. Once I was at a safe altitude, I scanned my panel to see what was wrong.
