One of the best day trips you can have in the Edinburgh area is Fort Douglas Adventure Playground! Dalkeith Country Park has lots of activities but the number 1 attraction for any kid is Fort Douglas Adventure Park. There's ziplines, slides, ropes, treehouses everywhere and a huge bouncy pillow. There's even a thrilling wire climbing tunnel right over the River South Esk! For little kids, there's a separate play area with all the same type of playground equipment, just smaller in size.
