Instagram: / rutvalenti The Hlane Royal National Park is the largest game and nature reserve and one of six national parks in Eswatini. The area is located in the north-east of Eswatini in the Lubombo region and is around 21,736 hectares in size. Eswatini is a small, monarchically governed landlocked state in southern Africa, known for its wildlife reserves and traditional Swazi cultural festivals. It borders Mozambique to the north-east and extends into South Africa. The Lebombo Mountains can be seen from the many hiking trails of the Mlawula Nature Reserve. The nearby Hlane-Royal National Park provides a habitat for wild animals such as lions, hippos and elephants. Do you like my channel? To mark the 50th anniversary of its independence, the king announced that the country's name would be changed to Eswatini. This was a return to the original name and removed a remnant from the colonial era. How many rhinos are there left? There are still five rhinoceros species in the world today. Of the three Asian species (armoured, Java and Sumatran rhinoceros), two - the Java and Sumatran rhinoceros - are almost extinct, with very few animals left. The African black rhino is also still considered to be threatened with extinction, although its numbers are slowly recovering. There are now around 6,500 of them again. The Indian rhinoceros in India and Nepal numbers around 4,000 animals and is also endangered. Most individuals are white rhinos, but populations of the species have declined massively in recent years due to ongoing poaching pressure: in the last 10 years from 21,300 (as of 2012) to the alarming figure of just under 16,000 white rhinos at the end of 2021. The good news, however, is that numbers have been rising again somewhat since 2022. Authorities assume that there were at least 16,800 of the animals again at the end of 2022.
