Metal Bullet is a fan game based on the Contra and Metal Slug series of games, released in 2019, created by Victor Paretto on the Unity game engine for computers. This game is another example of the fact that you should not mix the unmixable. But let's take it in order. The plot is an original invention of the author of the game and has no logical explanation. But if we try to put together something similar to a "plot", we will get this: Sally's girl was kidnapped (yes, yes, as if we could not see such a plot twist in the Gun Force bootleg) and she needs to be saved. Who exactly kidnapped her - only the author of the game knows. Considering that the main bosses of the game here are the technicians from Metal Slug, maybe Allan wanted a little.. female warmth? It doesn't matter! All levels of the game are 2D labyrinths in which everything is bad: the location of opponents, a bunch of bugs in the collision. The level theme itself is incomprehensible and terrible. The game will quickly become boring with getting stuck in platforms and the inability to enjoy the gameplay. The gameplay in the game is simply terrible due to the fact that the control of the main character is strongly castrated and inconvenient (considering that the control cannot even be customized). Like in the original Contra, Sally initially has 3 lives, which can be replenished to 5, but believe me, they will be lost very quickly. Having lost lives, the player starts the level from the beginning, or from a checkpoint (with the current number of lives saved, so be prepared for frequent level reboots). The game's arsenal is cut down to a standard rifle (and its presence would not have saved the game from criticism). The character's collision mask is tied to a sprite, which sometimes interferes with normal progression through the game (for example, in the last level there is a huge chance that shells from the turret will always hit you even if Sally is lying down), especially passing the section with a timer (say "Hello" to Resident Evil). The enemy bestiary is quite meager: a turret; a gun that shoots homing missiles, a deadly laser wall, a moving laser wall, huge boulders, The Keesi III, Toschka Dalanue. All these enemies use assets from the Metal Slug games, but their behavior patterns were invented by the author himself. The soundtrack has only 4 tracks from the Contra games, the rest are unknown to me samples. I touch on the sound for two reasons: poor sfx and the author's unwillingness to adjust the volume of the background music, which is why some tracks sound VERY LOUD. What we got in the end: a "game" on Unity that needs to be finished and finished. But considering that the project has never been updated, the game itself is dead. I do not recommend anyone to download this game. P.S. Interesting fact from the author of this game: this project was created in his 3rd semester of the career "Videogame Development" as a presentation of his "Videogames 2D-II" class in a span of 2 Months.
